In fact, Buzz did not have the idea, but his success on Gemini-12 was important in establishing the value of the technique. It is my understanding that Buzz Al...Great article. It is my understanding that Buzz Aldrin was the one who came up with the idea of practicing his Gemini EVA by putting a mockup in the pool. I believe that NASA was disappointed with the preceding EVA's, as the Astronauts had trouble manouvering outside the capsule, and expended far too much energy in the process.
